Households in postcodes from Inverloch to Loch Sport will be invited to register their interest for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Energy Community Assembly. After the 11th of May, 50 members will be selected by democratic lottery to participate in the program which is to be run over June.
Over the next two weeks, members from Gippsland households in postcodes from Inverloch to Loch Sport will be sent a postal invitation to register their interest for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Energy Community Assembly.
Community assemblies prioritise the voices and perspectives of everyday people, empowering them to actively shape the decisions impacting their lives. The question to be addressed will focus on how the changes can coming with offshore wind benefit us all – our families, communities, and our coastline?” A set of recommendations will then be put forward to the Gippsland Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) as well as Local and State Government for response.
Offshore wind energy is a defining part of Gippsland’s energy future and a key contributor of Australia’s renewable transition that will help power the nation, how can the change benefit us all – our families, communities and our coastline?
Democracy Co specialise in deliberative democracy strategy, design and facilitation around Australia and overseas. They secured philanthropic funding to deliver this project. GCCN will support the project’s delivery as local support and as an advisory lead. GCCN is proud to have secured this opportunity as the results are expected to guide Gippsland’s offshore wind journey and inform similar projects nationwide.
