GCCN’s activities continue at a fast pace.
The team has been focussed on community participation; we know from our connections that our Gippsland communities want to participate in the renewable energy transition. Over recent months, our conversations along the Gippsland coast — through the GCCN and DemocracyCo Gippsland Coastal Assembly process — made one thing clear: our communities are ready to be part of the journey. People can support an offshore wind industry, but only if it’s done right — with strong environmental protections, meaningful community benefits, and jobs for local people.
The recent news that Blue Float Energy’s Gippsland Dawn project will not proceed is a setback and now is the time for all levels of government to step up and commit to delivering a locally led offshore wind industry. Gippsland has some of the most consistently strong winds on the planet, shallow coastal waters, and an extensive grid network — a rare and valuable combination that positions us to lead Australia’s clean energy future.
Gippsland has a proud energy legacy but with an ageing fleet of coal-fired power stations and a pressing need to cut emissions, the time for bold action is now. We have the history, the willingness and experience to Deliver Gippsland — and power a future made in Australia.
The Gippsland New Energy Conference (GNEC25) is well and truly locked in for September 9th and 10th with connections with ACOWE (Australia Centre for Offshore Wind Energy) for Academic Symposium with Federation University, GNEC25 Farm Forum & tours and the 2025 Gippy Youth New Energy Job Summit — happening Thursday, September 11 at the Korumburra Recreation Centre!
It is always rewarding to see our Energise Gippsland team deliver a community solar and battery system this time for the Welshpool Memorial Hall with the assistance of the AusNet’s Energy Resilience Community Fund
