Welcome to the GCCN eNews summer edition 2025
As we approach the end of another vibrant year, it’s a fitting moment to reflect on our collective achievements and look ahead to the opportunities the coming year holds. Together, we have accomplished much through our shared commitment to a more sustainable Gippsland.
Our Energise Gippsland Renewable Energy Fund continues to power positive change, providing ongoing lease funding for solar and battery installations across five sites in the region. This initiative has delivered over 200kW of renewable energy capacity, cutting 330 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually and representing a total investment of $260,000. These results are a testament to what we can achieve by working together for a cleaner future.
The AusNet electri-FAIR-cation Project has also made significant progress, with installations now complete for a third cluster of homes—bringing 18 households up to date with modern, energy-efficient solutions. Work is well underway on the fourth cluster, where new engagement strategies have secured 15 Scorecard Assessments and participation from 12 households. With approvals in place, installations for this group will commence shortly.
Our Gippsland Coastal Assembly continues tohttps://www.gccn.org.au/energise_gippsland#electri-FAIR-cation ensure our community has a “seat at the table”. Thirty participants recently met online with Offshore Wind Energy Victoria to discuss the latest developments and the impact of the offshore wind auction delay. Looking ahead to 2026, the Assembly will reconvene with VicGrid to explore the evolving renewable energy zones. We still have room for more members.
A major milestone this year was our Special General Meeting on 5 November at the Morwell Innovation Centre, where members voted to support the Board’s recommendation to transition GCCN to a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). All necessary legal documentation has been submitted, and we now await ASIC’s decision. This strategic change is designed to secure our ongoing strength and resilience as an organisation.
