New EV destination charger launched at Yallambee Elderly Care Village Traralgon
Gippsland Climate Change Network has officially launched a new 30kW DC fast electric vehicle charger at Yallambee Traralgon Village, supported by AGL as part of the expanding regional EV charging network across Gippsland.
The charger has already been operating for several weeks and is being used by local and visiting EV drivers, including people travelling from Melbourne, Canberra and across Gippsland.
One recent visit highlighted the practical value of the new infrastructure. Before the charger was installed, a family visiting a loved one at Yallambee had to leave their EV in town and walk around 30 minutes to the village. They can now charge onsite while they visit, giving them more time with family and less time managing travel logistics.
Supporting cleaner regional travel
The Yallambee charger is a simple example of how public EV infrastructure can support cleaner transport while improving access to essential community facilities. It also helps reduce range anxiety by making regional EV travel more practical for residents, visitors and families moving around Gippsland.
GCCN is proud to support community-based charging locations that make it easier for people to choose electric vehicles and take part in Gippsland’s transition to a cleaner energy future. Thank you to AGL, RACV Commercial Energy Solutions, Yallambee Village and everyone involved in bringing this project to life.
